This is the Blog of Library Kendriya Vidyalaya Kargil, launched in February 2017. Explore the site you will get a complete picture of all Resources & Services provided by the Library. The Aim of our Blog is to provide main contents of the Library Management System.

LIBRARY KV KARGIL has 1986 books from which 1000 books are in English language and 986 books are in Hindi language. Library acquired 21 periodicals in English and Hindi Language. Library has a good collection of Ready reference books, Subject reference books, text books, General books (fiction & nonfiction), etc. which satisfy the regular need of the staff and students.Library has a comfortable seating arrangement for the students and staff.  There is a class library for Primary section. Besides books we have a good number of magazines (Weekly, fort-nightly & monthly). 

Open access and Classification- The library follows an open access system. The books are classified and shelved according to the DDC Scheme for arrangement of books.

Library Automation- The stock and Services of the library has automated by using e-Granthalaya Library management software. 


Aims of the Library

·       Supporting and enhancing educational goals as outlined in Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan’s       mission and curriculum. 
·            Effectively participate in the teaching-learning programs of the school. 
·            Be the knowledge hub of the school and disseminate knowledge as widely as possible. 
·           Facilitate optimal use of knowledge & library service for over all growth and development of the   students. 
·           To create and development self reading ability and interest among the student and staff. 
·           To assist the students to become skilful and discriminating users of library. 
·         To workout a programme in consultation with teachers for the effective use of all types of library   material. 
·         To encourage participate in co- curriculum activities. 
·         To provide healthy environment for silent reading. 
·         To provide training of How to use the library services. 
·       To provide ethical values through books to mould the students into good citizens to play a positive  role in the progress and development of the nation. 
·         To provide  latest news about the world.



Library Rules

1.      All students and staff of the school are members of the library.
2.      A student can borrow only two books at a time for a period of two weeks.
3.     A staff member can borrow maximum five books at a time for a period of one  month.
4.   Books will be issued to the students, during the library periods. No book will  be issued or returned during the teaching hours.
5.      Marking, underlining or writing on library books, periodicals, and newspaper is strictly forbidden.
6.     Reference books and current periodicals will not be issued to any member. These can be consulted only in the library.
7.      If the books are not returned within the specified time it will be viewed seriously and fine will be charged as per rules.
8.      The librarian may call for a book at any time, even if the normal period of loan has not expired.
9.      In case of book is misused, wrongly handled or lost the person concerned will have to replace the book or pay the current market price of the book.
10.  After reading, make sure that the books, periodicals and newspapers are kept back at their respective places.
11.  The members should take good care of library furnishings and equipment. Make sure the library looks as good when you leave as it did when you came in.
12.  Drink and food are not allowed in the Library.
13.  A ‘No Dues Certificate’ by each student is to be obtained from the librarian while his/her transfer/withdrawal from the school.
14.  Strict order and silence shall be maintained in the library and speak softly if needed.
